O Come, Little Children was one of the first challenges for me. I was not accustomed to the different bowing indications. I did get it, but now I see that I still need to work on my intonation as well as fine tune my bowing technique. In any case, I managed to play it at three different speeds: 55 (Larghetto), 65 (Adagio), and 75 (Adagietto) bpm.
Things to work on after viewing this video:
- Intonation – I will work on this by focusing on my left hand placement and consciously practice my scales and pieces, until I get accustomed to hitting the right notes more often.
- Keep at it with my bowing drills. I feel and see the improvement in my bowing. It’s better, but it can still improve. I will try to do more sight bowing to make sure I keep the bowing straight and in control.
- Be aware of tension. I do my best in identifying my tension, I still have to always work on that.
Also, this is the first time I recorded using my 2nd violin, the Marquis V100 that I recently restored. After modifying the strings and the sound post, this violin plays nicely and is very nice to my fingers and left ear. very happy with this violin.
