I’m establishing my public journal that documents my progress in learning the violin at an older age. Since I started in May of 2018, I have fallen deeply in love with this instrument and it has changed my life immensely. As a result, I wanted to share my experiences with others that may find the violin as exciting and addictive as I have.
So far, I have published a few YouTube videos that share some of my experiences. I have divided them into playlists.
Suzuki Book 1 Violin Songs playlist
This playlist covers beginner songs that I’m learning from Suzuki book 1. I highly recommend using the Suzuki Method. All if the songs are fun to play and offer something new to learn as you move forward in the book. Like I mentioned before – my playlist is like my personal journal that displays how I play these songs at different speeds. Of course, these performances are not perfect, but for me it’s a good reference that shows where I’m at with my technique.
Violin Practice Drills and Warmups
In my Drills and Warm ups playlist, I like to share a few exercises that I have found useful for my learning. I’m also planning to post the different scales and arpeggios I know so far, and a few more bowing and left hand drills that I have learned throughout the year as well.
Equipment Reviews
Last, my reviews playlist displays a few reviews on equipment. Currently I have 2 reviews, one on my beginner electric violin, and the other is a full detailed review of my one year experience with my very first cheap violin. I like share a lot of insights about equipment that I would have found useful as a beginner. I will be posting a review on my new violin when I have about a year’s worth of use on it. But to be honest, it will probably be a very short review – so far, I don’t have anything to say about it other than it works beautifully!
I hope my content will be useful to many to strive to learn the violin. If my content is useful to your learning, please show some support by subscribing, liking, and commenting on my videos through my YouTube channel.
Thanks!
